Our Philosophy

American Liberty Ballet is committed to the development of original and creative ideas through movement. As a company we are interested in exploring the many ways in which the body may be handled as a means of expression. Our goal is to externally embody our inner-selves in a compassionate, fun, skilled, artistic manner, which connects with the audience’s own sincerity.

Valerie Mae Browne

Valerie is a native San Diegan who graduated from UC Irvine in 2008 and moved to New York in August 2009 to further her dance career. Valerie has performed with Fresno Ballet, San Diego Ballet, Cynthia Merrill, San Diego City Ballet, California Conservatory of Dance, Ballet Arte, Once Upon A Time, La Danserie, Metropolitan Repertory Ballet, and American Liberty Ballet. In March of 2011 she and Rebeccah Bogue co-founded Pink Pig Ballet which would later become American Liberty Ballet. In October of 2011 she co-produced, directed, and choreographed the companies premier, The Little Humpbacked Pig. Since then she has premiered 7 original full length ballets, and created many new works on the company. Her work has been featured in international films, tv programs, and rock concerts. She is a passionate proponent of health and inclusivity in the dance community and is incredibly proud of ALB and it's exciting future.

Quimen started his training at Orlando Ballet School and performed w/ the main company Orlando Ballet under direction of Fernando Bujones in full length ballets such as Spartacus and Coppellia as Dr. Coppelius, Giselle and more. Q has danced for Fort Lauderdale Ballet Classique, Cuban Classical Ballet, South Florida Ballet Theater as a soloist and Ohio Dance Theater as a principal. Q currently dances for Ballet For Young Audiences/ Ballet Repertoire NYC as Principal Dancer, & Ballet Master, & American Liberty Ballet, as both Principal Dancer and Ballet Master.

Analia Farfan

Ms Analia Farfan, graduated with Honors from “Maria Ruanova Institute , later was awarded with a scholarship at “Princess Grace Academy” in Monaco , She performed worldwide in ballet companies and Operas such us: Pennsylvania Youth Ballet , Metropolitan Opera Ballet , State Ballet of Georgia , Ray Ballet , Ajkun Ballet Theater among others. Ms Farfan is the Principal Dancer and Choreographer of “Athena Music Foundation” in New York and winner of the Concorso Veneto Dance Award 2021 and the International Dance Talent Competition 2021 among many other prizes.

Karina Álvarez

Karina Álvarez is a ballet dancer from Medellín, Colombia. After graduating from high school moved to New York City on a full merit scholarship to study at the Joffrey Ballet School in the four year Ballet Trainee Program. In the four years at the Joffrey Ballet School participated in different productions such as, The Nutcracker, La Esmeralda, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Walpurguisnacht, and various Character, Jazz, Contemporary and modern pieces.

Beth Pederson

Originally from the Bay Area, Beth has been attempting to learn the art of classical ballet since she was three, studying under the direction of Darlene Thorne, Ballet San Jose, and eventually continuing her training at the San Francisco Ballet School. Prior to moving to New York City in 2018, she spent three years teaching, staging, and performing classical works with University Ballet of Chicago. Beth has been dancing with ALB since 2019 and is, as ever, thrilled and humbled to be included in this incredibly talented and dedicated company!

Samuel Humphreys

Samuel Humphreys trained extensively under Dr. Raoul Gelabert, Larry Ensign, and at the Gelsey Kirkland Ballet with Nikolai Levitsky, Lyubov Fominich and Gelsey Kirkland. He is also an exponent of classic modern dance, currently performing with the Anna Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, and working extensively with Lori Belilove as a guest artist and teacher training candidate.

Viviane Trinh

Classically-trained with American Ballet Theatre, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Alvin Ailey, New York Theatre Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Liberty Ballet, Ballet School of Stamford and Connecticut Ballet. Viviane, DMD, MPH, is a dentist and serves as a health commissioner.

Elizabeth Cutrone

Elizabeth is a data scientist with a background in visual neuroscience, which she studied at Carnegie Mellon University and then at New York University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Cognition and Perception in 2016. During graduate school, she rediscovered her early-aughts competition gymnastics leotard and began her ballet training through adult programs at the Joffrey Ballet School and Ballet Academy East. Elizabeth has been dancing with American Liberty Ballet since 2020.

Lindsay Rose-Johnson

Starting at the age of 4, Lindsay was a competitive gymnast, winning many medals and awards. Shortly after retiring from competition life, she began training in strict Russian technique under Mia Song-Seshiki, whose teacher went to the illustrious Vaganova Academy. After graduation, Lindsay began dancing with several companies over many years, but after deciding to become a Guest Artist, she was invited to be a founding member of LA Dance Moves directed by Nancy Paradis and then met Valerie Mae Browne of ALB. Lindsay is thankful for her husband, Jacob, and her always supportive family.

Amy Miller

Amy trained at the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts in Torrington, CT, graduating from their residency program. There she performed many of the classics. Afterward, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Master of Communications from Montclair State University. Amy has been with American Liberty Ballet since 2015 and has appeared in roles such as Jack White in the ALB original ballet Jack White and the 7 Sins, Rat Queen and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Zulma in Giselle and more.

Hyerim (Irene) Hwang

Hyerim Hwang is originally from Seoul, Korea. She began her formal training in 2006 at Sun Hwa Art School and was invited to join the Universal Ballet. She completed a Bachelor’s Degree in performing arts and graduated with honors from Kook-min University in Seoul, South Korea. Professionally she has performed a wide range of classical and contemporary roles as a freelance dancer with New York City based companies. Hyerim is an ABT Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.

Raquel Beauchamp

Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Raquel began her professional dance studies in School for the Performing Arts under Maria Carrera and Yolanda Muñóz. She performed in various works across the island including Cabaret Le Freak, a musical that played tribute to Chicago and Sweet Charity. She moved to NYC to continue dancing and is now a Soloist at Axons Dance Theatre and Corps de Ballet member of American Liberty Ballet. Some or her highlights at ALB include Fritz, lead in “In a Nutshell”, Salt, lead in “Pasta” and Sloth, soloist in “Jack White and the Seven Sins”.

Caroline O'Connor

Caroline lives in NYC and has danced with ALB for many years, performing roles such as Flowers, Snow, (Nutcracker), Dryad, Captive (Sylvia) and Peasant, Willi (Giselle), among many others. In addition to ALB, Caroline has trained at Ballet Academy East, Joffrey Ballet, and with Roni Mahler.

Victoria Barysheva

Victoria Barysheva was born in Omsk, Russia and started dancing at the age of 7. Victoria’s first introduction to dance came in the form of traditional character dance. She later enrolled into Omsk College of Arts and Omsk State University, Faculty Culture and Arts, studying contemporary, modern, and character dance. Victoria is attending Broadway Dance Center, NYC via the International Student Visa Program. Victoria is dancing with the company since 2020, having previously performed in ALB’s The Dying of Swan Lake (2020) and In A Nutshell (2020).

Yuna Khawaja

Raised and educated in both Tokyo and Dallas, Yuna received a Bachelors of Arts in Human Science at Keio University in Tokyo. Growing up, she enjoyed gymnastics and flamenco dancing. Yuna’s classical ballet training began in her late 20s in Palos Verdes, CA under former professional dancer Yoko Takemasa. Yuna relocated to New Jersey and began attending American Liberty Ballet as a student. In 2019, she became a trainee with the company. Since then, she has performed in ALB’s original Nutcracker “In A Nutshell”, The Dying of Swan Lake, and An Evening of Wepetoire. She is a proud mother of two.

Natasha Sheptalova-Robinett

Natalia Sheptalova-Robinett grew up in Moscow, Russia and received her training at The Moscow Academy of Choreography, then at Russian Academy of Theatrical Art - GITIS. She toured internationally with The Russian National Ballet performing roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, Cinderella, Paquita. In the US Natalia performed with Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, American Liberty Ballet, American Swiss Ballet, Metropolitan ballet, Victoria Ballet Theatre, and other companies and projects. She also teaches ballet and character dance at schools in NY, NJ, CT.

Allie has been a soloist with ALB for four years. Notable roles include Clara (In a Nutshell, 2018-20) and Odette (Swan Lake, 2020). Last fall she presented her choreography at the International Dance Festival in Union City. She's originally from Mobile, Alabama and began dancing at her family's studio, Sheffield School of Dance. When she was in high school she joined Mobile Ballet's pre-professional school and company and assisted for Tremaine Dance conventions. She's received additional training at Northwest Florida Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, SLK Ballet, and Bolshoi Ballet Academy.

Alexandra N. Skibinski

Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Alexandra’s early training took place at the S.C. Governor’s School for Arts and Humanities. She continued her training and graduated from New World School of the Arts with a BFA in Dance and Performing Arts. At New World she performed works created by Paul Taylor, Peter London, Mark Morris, Gerard Ebitz, and Merce Cunningham. She has performed excerpts of Giselle, La Bayadere, Swan Lake, and Coppélia. Upon moving to New York, she performed works by Pascal Rioult. She is currently performing with American Liberty Ballet.

She Started in Mexico at the age of 3 with “Royal Ballet Veracruz.” She has introduced ballet and contemporary into modeling in runways for many years; she has been invited by prestigious academies from all over the world like England, Spain, United States, Argentina and Canada to become part of their formation in dance; as well, she has performed with the Russian National Ballet. She graduated from The Joffrey Ballet School and she has chosen to continue her career as a professional dancer with ALB and modeling for non dance and dance photographers from New York City.

Dario Sanchez

Dario is mostly known for his featured acting roles on SNL and FBI. He’s performed in 7 ballets with American Ballet Theater at the Met as a Supernumerary. Romeo & Juliet, Le Corsaire, Manon, and La Bayadere to name a few of the ballets. Dario debuted with American Liberty Ballet dancing King and Fairy Cavalier roles for Sleeping Beauty (2021).

Alexandra Bryukhanova

Alexandra has been in love with dance ever since she can remember and took ballet lessons in her tween years but switched gears to pursue science instead. After earning Bachelors in Software Engineering in her native Canada, she moved to New York in 2010 to work in tech. However her love for dance hasn't diminished, so after a nearly 20 year break she took up ballet as an adult student. With ALB she has reached many firsts in her dancing and became a trainee. Alexandra is dancing with the company since 2017, having previously performed in ALB’s productions of Giselle (2018), In A Nutshell (2017/2018/2019), Pasta (2019), Jack White and the Seven Sins (2019), and The Dying of Swan Lake (2020).

Originally from Japan, started ballet at the age 6. In 2009 she joined Summer Intensive at Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, 2010 and 2011, received Incentive award at Ballet Competition Tokyo, Yokosuka International Ballet Competition. 2012-15, she studied in Canada, Germany, and Croatia. 2015-18 IISP student at Steps on Broadway. 2019 July, received an Outstanding Performance Award for her own choreography in Zen-ten at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum. 2019 December, performed Sugar Plum fairy pas de deux in the Nutcracker production at Jose Mateo Ballet Theater, Boston.
