How is it summer already? How am I still in my house writing this? It's so crazy... but there is good news on the horizon! According to NJ's Reopening Plan, it looks like Youth Day Camps and Summer Programs can operate as of July 6th! This is terrific news because I remember what it was like to be young dancer training with the hopes of starting a professional career. If I didn't dance for two days in a row, I felt like my chances were over. I can only imagine how these young athletes and artists must feel right now.
"We will also be approaching the intensives with the understanding that these dancers have not been able to properly train for a few months. A slow build is a must."
So! After talking with company members and colleagues in the dance community we have decided to open a Trainee and Level 2/3 Summer Intensive to help ease dancers back into shape. We will keep our numbers extremely low, because I'm one of the very cautious people in regards to COVID. I have two babies, and do not take their safety lightly. Therefore, you can be assured, we will not take your babies safety lightly either. We are only accepting 5 students per level and will follow all distancing and health guidelines.
ALL dancers (of all ages) can attend these intensives virtually, and we are working on getting some truly amazing guest teachers! We will also be approaching the intensives with the understanding that these dancers have not been able to properly train for a few months. A slow build is a must. Dancers can email me to arrange an audition for the in-person spots. Please share this information with your aspiring dancers!
As for regularly scheduled classes, there are still no set dates as to when we can return to the studios. So for now, we will continue on with virtual training for both children and adults. Virtual Summer Session 1 will go until August 8th (a short session) and hopefully by then we will have a better idea of when we can hold classes in the studio, and get ready for Fall.
Though there isn't a day that passes where I don't miss you all, and in many ways, it has been a very sad time, I've also never been more proud of ALB. The love and support that you offer each other (and me), every day, is something so amazing and beautiful that I can't even put it into words. I have seen through a screen, how the children have grown in beauty and mental strength. I am so so lucky to be in your lives, and I think this Summer is going to be an AMAZING ONE, no matter how we must go about it.
